It's Official ...

I am the world's worst blogger. I go a month, or longer, between posts and when I actually do post all I ever do is bitch and complain. Either my life is just really boring and there is nothing to really talk about, or I'm too damn lazy to sit down in front of the computer and post something. And considering it only takes a couple of minutes to write and post an entry, that is REALLY lazy!

On another note, I'm really getting into this latest Indy Racing League season. Sam Hornish continues to be on a roll, winning his third race in his last five starts in Kansas City today. I think the battle between Hornish and Dan Weldon in today's race is a snapshot of a rivalry that could define the IRL for years to come. Both are under 30, extremely talented, and drive for outstanding teams. These guys could be the drivers that spark interest in the sport. And to be honest, the IRL is the most exciting racing league there is. I like NASCAR, but the IRL races are more competitive and exciting than those in NASCAR. The IRL guys will go four- or five-wide into a turn on lap 30 and not think twice about it. There are two reasons why NASCAR has a greater following: 1) a better marketing campaign and 2) the ugly IRL/CART split. But given the fact that teams such as Penske, Target/Chip Ganassi, Rahal/Letterman, and Andretti/Greene have left the Champ Car series for the IRL speaks volumes to the health of the Champ Car series. Maybe if the rumored IRL/Champ Car merger comes to be, open-wheel racing can regain the audience share and recognition it deserves.
