Another Boring Saturday Night

There are three things in life you can count on; death, taxes, and the fact that I won't have a date on Saturday night. In the past I tried to come up with excuses for why I was alone and ways to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal. Things like, "I don't have time for a girlfriend," or other excuses like that. After all these years these excuses are starting to ring a little hollow. I'm now 29, and it's been 4 years since I last had a date. Being a loser sucks.

Be Careful What You Wish For

Just last night, I stongly expressed my desire to see Ron Artest shipped out of Indiana. Sure enough, he finally was. You would think I would be beyond giddy right now, but I'm not. The reason, the Pacers traded Artest for the one player I want no part of, Peja Stojakovic. Peja is one of (if not the) most over-rated players in the NBA. He plays no defense, doesn't rebound, while he is alegedly a sharpshooter he's only shooting just over 40% from the field this season, and not only all this Peja is also just as much as a moody crybaby as Artest. *SIGH* The pains of being a loyal Pacers fan.

Ron Artest Must Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been an avid fan of the Indiana Pacers ever since I've followed professional sports. I am so rabid a fan I cannot watch the team play because I get so emotionally involved and become a nervous wreck. Needless to say I am sick and tired of that immature, obnoxious baby Ron Artest. His list of wrongdoings is well known: destroying a TV monitor, flipping off fans, challenging Pat Riley to a fight, and of course the now-infamous "Malice at the Palace." But somehow, the Pacers organization stood behind him. Then, Artest decides to decalre he wants to be traded. Of course he told the Indianapolis Star newspaper without informing the team first. The team, decides to trade is sorry butt (and rightly so). Now not only has Artest had a change of heart, he nixes a potential trade to the Kings. Meanwhile, the Pacers (a team expected to challenge for the Eastern Conference title) is struggling as evidenced by tonight's 30-point thrashing by Cleveland. Artest must go, ever since the incident in Detroit he has done nothing but hurt the fanchise. And this whole circus of will he or won't he be traded has had a direct impact on the Pacers' perfomance. Ron, get the hell out of Indy. Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

Pathetic Losers Watch TV Too!!!!!

Okay, it's Friday night and of course I'm sitting alone all by myself. What really rubs salt into the wounds is the fact that there is absolutely nothing on TV!! I know you're supposed to have dates on Fridays and Saturdays, but come on! There are people out there who can't get dates to save their lives, me being the patron saint to this group. At least give us something to watch so we can forget even for an hour or two just how sad and pathetic our lives are! Come on, throw us a freakin' bone here!

Peyton Manning Still Can't Win the Big One

It isn't the NFL post-season until Peyton Manning comes up short in the playoffs. I am originally from Indiana, but have spent the better part of the last 25 years in SEC country so I have followed Manning's career really since it began. If I'm looking for a quarterback who will put up gaudy stats in the regular season, Manning is the guy. But if I want a QB who will win in the post season, sorry I want someone else other than Peyton Manning. Look at his carrer:

At Tennessee: 0 wins over Florida, 0 national titles.
At Indianapolis: 0 Super Bowl appearances, 3-6 record in the playoffs.

Boomer Esiason said it best last year when he said Manning was this generation's Dan Marino. A guy who puts up big regular-season numbers but can't win when it matters.

Masks

Have you ever wondered how many people wear masks? No, I'm not talking about something your wear on Halloween or to a costume ball. I'm talking about a metaphorical mask, letting people see what you want them to see and hiding what we don't want the world to know. How many of us go about the day putting up the facade that everything is fine when really we're in misery? For example, that co-worker or classmate of yours that always has a funny joke or snappy one-liner. Is that person as light and care-free as they seem, or is that the perception they want you to have? Is that irritable, bitter person no one likes to be around really that nasty or do they act that way because they are too scared to get to know people and risk getting hurt? How well do we REALLY know the people in our lives? Do we REALLY want to know what they keep hidden behind their carefully-crafted persona? Would we be better off if we didn't hold things back, if we really were open books for everyone to read? Or is it better that some things are kept to ourselves?

Opening Comments

Hello everyone,

I figured if everyone else on planet Earth has their own blog, why not me? This is my space to air my opinions, thoughts, deep dark secrets, and other delicious tidbits.

First a little about myself. I am a 29-year-old graduate student who is terminally single and has the self-confidence of a lima bean. To be honest, Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung would have a field day on my tortured psyche. I will use the anonymity of cyberspace to air a lot of my insecurities and hang-ups that I have kept pent up for many years. Many of these postings will be very personal and things I have never admitted to anyone. Think of this as an online diary.

First a little warning, I tend of be a little blunt and extremly politically incorrect. If you're easily offended, I guarantee I will piss you off. If you have a bitter, cynical sense of humor, we'll probably get along just fine.

That's it for now, I'll post more as the muse inspires me.
